Welcome to the Flaubert Gallery Web Site - thanks for dropping by!
Flaubert Gallery is delighted to be celebrating its 1st birthday this October. It has been an exciting and successful year for the gallery, with so many talented artists already exhibiting here and new artists joining us all the time, it has become well-loved as a relaxed venue for the arts in Stockbridge and the place to discover new painting, sculpture, glass, jewellery and printmaking. We intend keeping this site is as simple as possible as we believe the artworks and the artists showing in the main gallery are, quite rightly, the stars, so this Web Site is designed just to let you find out a bit more about the gallery, the artists, the events we have planned and simple ways for us to keep in touch. Opening with preview evening on Thursday 6th November and running until Sunday 16th, 'Passing By' is an exhibition of new works by renowned Scottish artist Gerald McGowan. Based in Edinburgh, Gerald McGowan is a figurative painter with an international reputation. His paintings capture the fleeting moments of people going about their everyday lives - well worth a visit in early November! We would also like to welcome a number of new artists into Flaubert Gallery; Arek Kozak, Jenny Mason, Jill Anne Martin and Steven Hendry. All have works currently showing in the gallery. The Flaubert Gallery is an ideal place to browse for new works of art - whether to add to your own collection or to find that unique gift you have always been looking for. Throughout the year we have an exciting program of both solo artist and themed events planned. The Gallery has a relaxed atmosphere for browsing and discovering something new - making it interesting and accessible to connoisseurs and new buyers alike and, in keeping with many international locations, Flaubert Gallery has been pioneering its own ‘First Thursday’ events, when on the first Thursday of each month the gallery will be open between 5:30pm and 7:30pm to offer visitors a complimentary glass of wine and an opportunity to meet some of the artists - please join us whenever you can.
